About Carolyn

Carolyn Parrs is deeply passionate about harnessing the power of women to help create a positive, dramatic and measurable impact on the planet. This urge prompted (forced) her to create Women Of Green, a multi-media blog and community dedicated to turning up the volume of the feminine voice on behalf of the planet and future generations. She fully believes that is what’s needed in order to change the course we’re on.

One way she does this is by helping women launch and grow green or socially focused businesses as a Marketing and Life Coach. “Business is one of the most powerful forces on the planet for change — and as more and more women launch and grow sustainable businesses, collectively we can make a BIG economic and social impact — fast. We’re the ones we’ve been waiting for,” she says.

As a 26-year old, Carolyn launched her first business, Poochi Canine Couture, Inc., a company that manufactured and designed fashion pet accessories and apparel. Poochi sold in over 1,000 department stores, pet stores and chains nationwide including Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Harrod’s of London, Dayton-Hudson, the Spiegel Catalog, Target, Venture and Ames stores. After four years, Poochi was acquired by the Con Agra Corporation. She and her products have appeared on television shows such as Good Morning America, ABC News, CBS News and on numerous radio and cable shows such as HBO, CNN and Lifetime Channel. Print coverage includes The New York Times, L.A. Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, People Magazine and Cosmopolitan.

Today, Carolyn is a Principal and Co-founder of Mind Over Markets, a dedicated green marketing communications company in Santa Fe, New Mexico. For over 10 years, she has helped businesses and organizations tap into the green revolution and excel. Her current clients range from clean tech to organics, personal care products to home décor, educational institutions to pet food, pallets and more. She is a featured author on Green Marketing in Thomson Reuters book series for C-level executives called Inside the Minds: Greening your Business

As part of her passion to help green companies grow, she co-authors the Green Marketing Blog, a definitive, thought-provoking and educational guide to marketing success in the green products world. Her podcast, America the Green, was one of the top eco-podcasts on iTunes.

She is a frequent keynote speaker and has presented at venues such as Green America’s Green Business Conference, University of Ottawa’s Sustainability Conference, the American Marketing Association, the American Management Association and the National Association of Women Business Owners. She is available to speak on topics relating to women and the green economy, and green marketing. Here are several topics she is available to present for your organization or group:

  • Can Western Women Save the World? How Collectively Women Can Change the World By What She Buys – and Doesn’t Buy.
  • Kermit is Dead: Effective Messaging in a Maturing Green Market.
  • The Relevant in the Room: Creating Green Messages That Matter and Avoiding Ones That Don’t.

Carolyn lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her husband, two children, and pets, Heart, Soul and Marbleeyes. Her joy fix is playing marimba.

I and also my guys have already been taking note of the excellent tips and hints found on your web page and then at once I had a terrible feeling I never expressed respect to the blog owner for them. The boys happened to be certainly stimulated to read through all of them and now have absolutely been loving them. Many thanks for genuinely well accommodating and for making a choice on certain marvelous subjects most people are really wanting to understand about. My very own sincere apologies for not expressing gratitude to earlier.

Thanks so much for providing individuals with a very remarkable chance to discover important secrets from this blog. It is always so cool and packed with a lot of fun for me personally and my office peers to search the blog particularly 3 times weekly to see the fresh issues you have. Of course, I’m always astounded with your brilliant concepts you serve. Certain two ideas in this post are in fact the most beneficial we have all had.
